OVERVIEW
Welcome! Below you will find descriptions of the general music classes by grade level. Parents will receive a hard copy of the General Music Classroom Expectations in the first week their child has music class. Please read this document carefully so that both you and your child know what to expect in Mr. Roberts' classroom.
DID YOU KNOW?... You can receive updates on what is going on inside your child's classroom right to your Smartphone or email address? Each general music class at Wind Gap Middle School has its own Google Classroom where Mr. Roberts posts announcements, assignments, classroom materials, and other fun stuff for your child to access anywhere, at any time! Parents and guardians may also enjoy limited access to their child's Google Classroom including announcements, posted assignments, and missing assignments.

4TH GRADE GENERAL MUSIC
4th grade general music is an exploratory class where students will enjoy a variety of activities that get them listening, singing, moving, and experiencing new music. The course covers topics such as music notation, singing, performing, world music, and music history. Students will need a pocket folder, a pencil, and a Chromebook every class period.
5TH GRADE GENERAL MUSIC
5th grade general music is an exploratory class similar to 4th grade general music where students will enjoy a variety of activities that get them listening, singing, moving, and experiencing new music. The course covers topics such as singing, music notation, pentatonic scales, music composition, and music theory. Students will need a pocket folder, a pencil, and a Chromebook every class period.
6TH GRADE GENERAL MUSIC
6th grade general music is a class where students will enjoy a variety of activities that get them listening, moving, and experiencing new music. Students will also be asked to make connections between the music of their culture and time period with that of others. The course covers topics such as instrument families, timbre, music history, music theory, clefs, and music composition. Students will need a pocket folder, a pencil, and a Chromebook every class period.
7TH GRADE GENERAL MUSIC
7th grade general music is a class where students will review and refine previous musical skills learned while enjoying a variety of activities that get them listening, moving, and experiencing new music. The course covers topics such as musical genres, musical ensembles, music notation, composition, and careers in music. Students will need a pocket folder, a pencil, and a Chromebook every class period.
8TH GRADE GENERAL MUSIC
8th grade general music is a class where students will review and refine previous musical skills learned while enjoying a variety of activities that get them listening, moving, and experiencing new music. The course covers topics such as patriotic music, broadway, composers, clefs, and music composition. Students will need a pocket folder, a pencil, and a Chromebook every class period.
